Time Challenge

The maths activity for this week is as follows: Please draw some clocks with numbers 1-12. Please then add a minute hand and a hour hand to display different o’clock times. We have been drawing the hands in class and the boys have learnt that the hour hand is shorter than the minute hand and that both hands need to start from the middle and be drawn in a straight line. As an extension, please draw some half past times. Please write the times you made by commenting on this post. Have fun!

  1. We drew some clocks for Charlie to tell the time. We made the times below:

    12.30
    2.30
    4.30
    7.30
    10.30
    6.30
    3.30
    5.30
    8.30
    9.30

We had fun telling the time!

  2. We had fun with this challenge. We looked at clock faces with the times – 3 o’clock, 9 o’clock and 5 o’clock and half past 4, 7 and 10. Thomas had a go at drawing some times too.

  3. Bosco drew 6,4,12,1,3,11and 7 o’clock. He then also drew 6.30, 8.30, 11.30, 2.30, 5.30 and 7.30. He enjoyed it and told me all about how the long hand was the minutes and the short hand the hours

  4. Apologies, we are playing catch up as we forgot to do the challenge last week – we’ve just completed the Clock challenge which William really enjoyed – we did 2pm, 3pm, 3:30pm, 11:30pm, 1pm, 6:30pm, 6pm and 10:30pm.
