We have been working hard during Literacy and Phonic lessons to form our letters using the cursive script. We have been working on segmenting and blending in order to read and using our Phonic knowledge to listen carefully for the sounds in words in order to read.

Staccato which means bouncy notes, like rain. Here we are doing bouncy moves to Staccato music which Mrs Lund is playing on the piano.

We collected leaves to make our little leaf men:

Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What do you hear?

It was lovely to see you all on Monday at our Open Classroom, thank you for coming!

We read Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What do you hear? We acted out the story and listened to the sounds we could hear around us.

During circle time this week, we discussed the importance of looking after our teeth! We looked at foods that are bad for our teeth and talked about brushing our teeth and visiting the dentist regularly.

Here is a fun song to encourage the boys to brush their teeth:

What do you see?

During Maths this week we have been focussing on number formation, ordering numbers to 10 and 20 and looking at number patterns.

We now have our own class brown bear from the story ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?’ We enjoyed working as a team to collage the bear and we look forward to you seeing it when you visit for our open classroom on Monday.

During music we learnt about dynamics. We explored different sounds and recognised the different dynamics. We also discussed the instruments in the percussion family.

Music Word of the week: Andante

We learnt about the eye during Understanding the World. We had a few activities to participate in, including ‘guess the eyes’. We learnt some interesting words: ‘transparent’, ‘pupil’ and ‘iris’.

To develop the boys’ independence skills we are going to start weekly challenges. Challenges will be placed on the blog and window.

Our challenge starting on the 04.10.21 is:

‘Hang your coat up independently’. To support the boys, you can encourage them to hang their coats up using the hook independently at home.

Show and Tell WB:04.10.21.

Please can the boys bring in their favourite toy or hobby or a picture of their favourite toy/hobby. Please can the boys think of why they like the toy/hobby, ready to share with the class.
