Dinosaurs !

We had a wonderful time on our trip to Knebworth this week. First we walked over a mountain , through a maze and over a torrential river !

Then we went on a dinosaur walk spotting dinosaurs in the forest. We saw all kinds of dinosaurs and read all long names.

Then we had a well deserved lunch and a play on the adventure playground.

In Maths this week we have been learning about doubles. The boys were so good at this ! Keep practicing double numbers at home and when you are out and about.

Our growing theme in class continues as we have watched our chicks and caterpillars getting bigger. The chicks fly off tomorrow to a bigger home and we hope next week the caterpillars will have formed their chrysalis’s ready to change inti butterflies.

Thank you for attending open classroom this week , it was lovely to see your and for the boys to share their learning with you.

Little Chicks

This week we have continued with our learning about growing and started to look at the life cycle of a chick. We had eggs delivered to the classroom and all the boys observed the chicks hatching out of the eggs.

We have talked and written about how this happens and the life cycle process. They are all so interested and knowledgeable about the natural world !

We have also bean writing up our bean diary. The beans are growing !

They continued their investigations of the natural world in welly time this week, thinking about what birds eat and making bird feeders.

We have been enjoying this beautiful weather, adding water to our outside provision and taking our learning outside as much as possible.

We continue to practice our cursive script. The boys are all getting so good at writing.

!

In Maths we have been counting forwards and backwards to 20, looking at bigger numbers and how they are composed.

Practice this at home counting everyday things and trying to go backwards as well.

We enjoyed cooking agin this week and made some lovely vegetable rice wraps with Ethan’s Mummy. Thank you for helping us!

The Hungry Caterpillar

This week has been all about caterpillars and butterflies. We started the week listening to and watching the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. The boys loved joining in with all the fruits. They wrote their own little book and drew and coloured the fruit. Within this story we go over the days of the week again. Practice saying the day with the boys each day so they get to know the sequence of a week. They also painted little caterpillars and looked at the life cycle of butterflies. In computing some of the boys chose to make a butterfly picture and print it out .

In Maths we have been counting forwards and backwards to 20. We used this skilll to think about one more and one less. Try this at home counting on or back from a given number and asking the boys the answer to one more and one less questions. Here is a game could could also play. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/robot-more-or-less

The boys have all done very well learning their tricky words . There are new lists in their yellow books for next week.

We are loving seeing all the gorgeous baby photos the boys are sharing and they are enjoying talking about how they have grown.

We enjoyed cooking on Thursday with Taylans Mum and Louis Mum and  Dad, we made some lovely biscuits. Thank you for coming in.
