Planes,Trains and Automobiles

This week we started our topic on Transport. We thought about all the different types of transport we could think of and wrote a list in our literacy books. We focused particularly on trains this week and looked at trains we see today and those that were used in the past. In art  we made train pictures by printing with shapes (You can see these on our window).

).

In Maths we have been focusing on 5 and 10 frames. We are learning how to look at the frame and know the number of counters without counting 1-1. We are also combining 2 sets to start learning about addition.

We did Maths in Art too , printing with blocks to combine numbers to 10.

In P.E we have been practising ball skills in teams and in cookery we practised our cutting skills with peppers and tomatoes.

We have also continued to use the woodwork bench to fine tune our sawing skills !

Our show and tell boys for next week are

Monday-Soren

Tuesday-Taylan

Wednesday-Zane

Thursday-Aari

Friday-Agustya

Monday to Wednesday we can still talk about our Christmas . After that we will start talking about a form of transport and 3 facts about it.

Our challenge for next week is to use a knife and fork.

Frosty Dragon Eggs

We have had a cold and frosty week at school but we have been as busy as always,

We have continued our learning about the weather and have written about the things we wear in different weathers. Our digraphs this week have been or, ie,oo. The boys are getting very good at spotting them in their reading books and trying to use them in their writing. We continue to work on our handwriting and the boys all enjoy using our Think Write programme to help them form the letters correctly.

We had great fun doing our rainfall experiment. The boys used shaving foam and food colouring to create the effect of rain dripping through the clouds.

In Maths we have been counting forwards and backwards and thinking about positional language.

Here are some games you could play to support our Maths learning.

Take turns to think of a number, your partner must guess the number.

Give clues, e.g. my number comes after 2 but before 4, my number is 1 more than 9.

Now choose some toys and place them in a line.

Can you point to the first toy in the line? the third? fifth? second? ninth?

Can you move the first toy to become the third? the fourth to become the tenth? the second to become the fourth?

For an extra challenge, please may you use your number cards to recognise numbers 10-20.

Welly time was exciting this week as we had to make nests for dragons eggs! We thought about the natural materials we could use and collected sticks and dug them into the mud to keep them safe.

.

Show and tell boys for next week are

Monday-Lewis

Tuesday-Maaran

Wednesday-Max

Thursday-Raphael

Friday-Sathiya

Our weekly challenge for an ‘I did it’ sticker is to continue remembering to put our book in the right box each morning
