Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?

The boys listened to the story ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” After spotting all the animals in the story. The boys then wrote the initial letter e.g. d for ‘duck’ and any remaining sounds they could hear when segmenting and blending. We decorated some of the animals from the story in Art using different materials.

During Phonics, the boys practised learning and writing the sounds, p, i and n. Please do continue to practise writing these sounds in the word book and think about words beginning with these sounds. We also practised writing the numbers 0 and 1.

This week in Maths we have been comparing and ordering by size, length and time.

Here are some activities you can do at home:

Find a ruler or a stick. Can you find something longer or shorter than this? Can you find something taller or shorter than this? Can you find something exactly the same length or height as this?

You can also make caterpillars from playdough. Which one is the longest caterpillar? Can you make a caterpillar that is the same length as a given stick?

To develop the boys’ independence skills we are going to start weekly challenges. Challenges will be placed on the blog and window.

Our challenge starting on the 02.10.23 is: Hang your coat up independently. To support the boys, you can encourage them to hang their coats up using the hook independently at home.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday for our ‘open classroom’ afternoon, the boys have worked very hard and I hope you enjoy looking through their books.

Next week’s show and tell are as follows;

Monday – Lewis

Tuesday – Maaran

Wednesday – Max

Thursday – Raphael

Friday – Sathiya

Have a restful and enjoyable weekend!

A Wet and Blustery Week 2 !

Week 2 has been busy again in RKZ!

Throughout the week we have been learning some new sounds. We learnt s,a,t ,recognising ,hearing, and practising writing each sound in our cursive script. Please continue to practice this at home in your pink word books and also have a go at finding words beginning with each sound.

In maths we have been sorting and matching. Have a look at a game to support this learning at home if you would like to.
