Merry Christmas!

We had a big surprise on Monday morning, some Elves had visited us over the weekend and asked for some help to decorate their house! We had so much fun decorating and playing in the little house. Thank you very much to the kind Elves!

In the afternoon, we wrapped up warm and went out in the snow!

During Maths this week we learnt about ordinal numbers, we raced cars and labelled them ‘1st’, ‘2nd’, ‘3rd’, ‘4th’.

We had lots of fun on Wednesday at our Christmas lunch and then our Christmas party. We showed off our dance moves during Musical statues, played a Christmas quiz and then created different Christmas crafts.

All the boys have worked very hard and had a fantastic first term at Lochinver House. Well done boys, have a fun and festive break and see you in the New Year! Love From Miss Gouldthorpe and Miss Bailey x

One more and one less Maths activity

This week in maths we have been looking at ‘one more’ and ‘one less’. For the maths activity this week, could you please pick some of your number cards at random to 20. Then, please say and write what is one more or one less than each number. Please comment on this blog post to let us know how you got on. Have fun!

Rexy the Dinosaur is here!

It was lovely to watch The Snowman and make up our own snowmen journeys on Monday using positional language.

Our class dinosaur hatched so we decided to vote for a name, the name ‘Rexy’ had the most votes. It has been lots of fun learning about dinosaurs, writing our own dinosaur stories and having a class dinosaur to play with.

We have started to learn diagraphs (2 letters, 1 sound), this week we learnt ‘ai’, ‘qu’ and we have been thinking of lots of words with these sounds and having a go at putting them into sentences.

In Maths we have been focussing on one more and one less and filling in missing numbers. We made our own class number line and found more and less than a given number.

Santa’s work shop is still lots of fun, designing and making toys.

We had no tables on Friday because they were borrowed for the Christmas fayre so we designed our own train track:

We are looking forward to next week, Wednesday is Christmas jumper day and the boys will have their Christmas lunch, followed by our Christmas party with lots of dancing and crafts. On Thursday, we finish at 12 ready for the Christmas holidays!

Well done, boys!

We were all very proud of you last week at the Pre Prep Christmas performance!  You sang clearly and confidently and were kind and supportive towards each other.  Well done!

We listened to The Christmas Story on Monday and related it to our characters in the Christmas play. We then ordered some pictures from the story and tried to remember the key events.

Miss Bailey and I are so proud of all the boys in Reception, they sung beautifully, sat still, looked to the front and performed so confidently in front of their very big audience. A fantastic show, well done Pre Prep!

Goodbye and good luck to our lovely Shanindu, we hope you enjoyed your leaving party and saying goodbye to everyone is assembly. We will all miss you very much, you have been such a kind friend and a happy, cheerful member of the class. Stay in touch!

The Giving Tree is now ready to receive decorations and pledges. The boys can make a single card or decoration out of recycled material instead of giving cards to all their friends. This can be placed on the Giving Tree in return for making a Giving pledge (pledge cards went home but will also be under the tree) these can be added to their decoration. Pledges can be as creative as they wish but need to involve a gift of giving e.g. Giving Dad help with dinner, Giving the dog a lovely walk, Giving old toys to charity, Giving the fish tank a good clean etc
