Our week

Last week the boys continued learning about one more and how to put this into a number sentence. We did lots of practice and even began looking at adding 2 and 3 more.

We have also been practicing our fine motor skills using scissors. We made snowflakes by folding a hexagonal piece of paper and cutting into it. When we unfolded it , it had made a beautiful snowflake for our display. Practicing these important skills is vital for the boys at this age as it benefits in all areas of their learning, particularly writing where the fine motor skills are so important.

The boys in Reception Ash love writing on long sheets of paper during phonics. It gives them the freedom to write as big or as small as they like and have fun in the process ( as well as benefiting their literacy ) !

Finally it is always lovely to watch just how much the boys enjoy sharing stories in their own child initiated learning. They always enjoy reading and creating stories with their friends and discussing what is happening in each picture. This skill of inferring information from a book is key to the boys development and is something they will continue to utilize and develop as they continue through school.
